The order of your search results list can be changed by using the Sort By feature at the top of the Search Results list.
Sorting Notes:
- Please note that if you change the sort order of any search result that is listed by relavancy ranking (Describe a Plot, Find Similar Books), you will have titles with weaker matches at the top of your list.
- If you list is long (because the search criteria were broad), you can further refine your results by re-sorting using the popularity sort. This will bring books to the top with highest popularity based on book purchases by libraries and book stores from across the nation.
Popularity Sort
The popularity sorting feature lets you find, for example, a list of mystery titles published in the last five years and then show your readers which ones have been the most popular. Even when you haven’t read the book, you now have a way to guide your readers to the most widely read books in any genre or on any topic. Popular titles are starred to indicate high demand titles. Our popularity information is gathered from thousands of libraries and retail outlets nationwide and is based on ordering information received from Baker & Taylor. If a book meets the popularity criteria, a series of one to four stars will be displayed to indicate the popularity factor for that title.
Search Results Page - Order
The order in which your search results are displayed depends on the type of search you perform:
| Find a Favorite Author |
Books by the author you searched for will be in alphabetical order by title. |
| Find a Favorite Title, Boolean Search |
Books are listed alphabetically by author. (Note that this is only true for Find a Favorite Title if the search criteria are broad enough to retrieve more than one title.) |
| Find A Series Name |
Books are listed in series order. |
| Describe a Plot, Find Similar Books, Subject Heading search from title record, Article and List Search |
Books are ordered by relevancy ranking with best matched books at the top of the list (much like web search engines). Note that for the Article and List Search, articles are also listed by relevancy ranking. |
